A last word

After the 10 Writing Skills classes of the first term I can say that I accomplished a more developed critical view of articles. Also, I learned about new things like parallelism ( although I learned about parallelism I'm not yet used to it.) I think that this module was a great thing for me and I would like to apologize to the teacher for giving her a hard time while correcting my assignments.

Perpetuous posting

This is my sixth post of the day so, after a long ignorance, my blog received some unexpected ( by him) attention. I think that the Writing Skills module helps me mostly when writing essays for other courses. It really did a good job in improving my vocabulary and in helping me understand some topics.

Writing skills

This is my fourth month at an University in England and I must say that after this rather short period of time I improved a little bit my writing. But there is still room for improvement. The best ways I can think of for improving my writing are lots of writing exercises and reading.

A new post

Today I had to re-edit my third Writing Skills assignment. As I was somehow expecting, I did a rather poor job with my third assignment. So, basicaly, I had to write the essay again. I hope that this time I did a better job. On a different note, I must say that I am a little bit sad because this is my last assignment for the Writing Skills class. I was really starting to enjoy this kind of work and now it's over.

Sixth Post

The sixth post on this blog is about the third assignment I had to do for my Writing Skills class. This assignment was about comparing two different articles which had the same subject : texting language. I must say that it was a little bit difficult because it was my first comparison between two articles on this subject. Not only this, but the fact that I had to bring my own arguments related to the subject made it a slow progress writing. But, afterall, I find the subject very interesting and I was really surprised when I read David Crystal's research on the topic.

Fifth post

I think that the fifth post should be about the two essays I had to write for Literature and Film. The subjects I chose to approach were very interesting. First of all, the Literature essay is about Jonathan Harker, the hero of Bram Stoker's Dracula. I chose this subject not because I am a fan of this trending vampire topic but because I thought I can provide interesting information about the subject. This is due to the fact that I am from Romania, Count Dracula's country :)  Back in Romania, I found lots of interesting books about how this novel was written so and I did my best to integrate this information in my essay. I hope it turns out well.
The subject of the Film essay is Sergei Eisenstein's editing techniques compared to an other film from the course. It was a great challenge to write about this subject because this was the first time I wrote an essay on comparing  editing techniques. But I must say that I enjoyed it and I hope that I will get a good mark.

A new update

Well, I must say that it has been a long time since I have posted on my blog. I totally ignored it because I am not used yet with using it. Not that I am some sort of caveman that doesn't see the purpose of an online blog, I just don't usually share this kind of thoughts online.
For this post I thought that I should write about written assignments for University. I am not really confident about writing assignments for University mostly because of my English vocabulary. As time passes I hope it will improve. University assignments are different from what I used to write during high school. They require a particular style of writing and are focused on subjects that are new to me. Also, they require a high amount of documentation in order to be written. But I really enjoy learning new things so I am looking forward to the assignments that will come.
